# Duke & Duke > Duke & Duke is an independent software studio (Duke & Duke Commodities Brokers LLC). We make three products: MoveToPlay, a screen time app for kids on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch; Weft, a free, open-source Mac app that sorts a long Messages conversation into topics; and SongShrink, which fits a song you own to a competition time and tempo (exactly when the music is long enough) on iPhone and iPad (Mac and Android coming soon). This site has no advertising trackers, analytics cookies or account registration. ## MoveToPlay: Earn Screen Time MoveToPlay is a screen time app for kids. Children earn screen time by exercising and doing parent-approved chores. Minutes go into a bank that never expires. On an iPhone or iPad, a parent can lock the apps they choose until that time has been earned, using Apple's Family Controls. App locking is optional; with it off, play sessions run on the honour system with a visible countdown. Key facts: - Apple only: iPhone and iPad (iOS 18 or later) with an Apple Watch app (watchOS 11 or later). The iPad version can also be downloaded from the Mac App Store on an Apple silicon Mac (macOS 15 or later); Apple lists it as designed for iPad and not verified for macOS, Mac use has not been tested by us, and a Mac cannot lock apps. Apple Watch cannot lock apps. There is no Android version and nothing on Google Play. - App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/movetoplay-earn-screen-time/id6800042475 (Health & Fitness, rated 4+, English). - No account or sign-up. A parent code is set on the device. iCloud is optional and only used to keep a second device in sync. - Cost: free to download, setup is free. To use the app, a parent starts the Annual or Monthly Family subscription (new subscribers get a 2-week free trial, then it renews unless cancelled in Settings) or buys Lifetime once for $19.99 (US price). There is no free unlock without starting a subscription or making the purchase. Lifetime and both subscriptions can be shared through Apple's Family Sharing. - Earning: each day the app picks three activities as Today's Quest (strength, cardio, mobility, balance, recovery) within the limits the parent set (difficulty, low-impact only, available equipment and places); the child can swap an activity for an alternative before starting it. Exercises get harder after repeated Easy ratings and ease off after repeated Too hard ratings. Chores are approved by the parent, with optional photo or note proof. Apple Health steps can earn minutes if a parent turns it on. - Parent controls: a weekly maximum on effort-earned minutes, activity reward value, chore values, play session lengths, optional guaranteed daily minutes credited on top of anything earned (off by default), pause windows for bedtime or school (no new session can start during one; a running session is ended early and refunded when MoveToPlay is open or next opened), and the optional app lock. - Banked minutes never expire. Unused minutes from a session ended early go back to the bank. No streaks. - Multiple children: each child's bank, quests, progression and rewards are separate, and the child-facing screens on a child's device show only that child. - Privacy (wording from the privacy page): The app does not contain ads or third-party ad networks. Duke & Duke does not sell personal information, does not show ads, and does not use children's activity for targeted advertising. The app keeps family data on the family's devices and, when enabled, in Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services for private synchronization. ### Privacy and safety (MoveToPlay: Earn Screen Time, by Duke & Duke) Answers about this app — the Apple-only app on the App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/movetoplay-earn-screen-time/id6800042475). Each one is checked against the privacy page and the app itself. - Is it safe, and what data does it collect? It is made to be set up and supervised by a parent, and there is no account and no sign-up, so there is no profile on Duke & Duke's side; a parent sets a parent code on the device. What it stores is what a family puts in: a nickname and broad age band but not an exact birth date; movement preferences, equipment and parent settings; completed activities, earned minutes, chores and rewards; Apple Health step counts, read-only, if a parent turns walking rewards on; a photo or short note as chore proof, if a parent asks for one; and which apps are selected for locking plus whether Apple's Family Controls is authorized on the device. There is no location, no microphone, no ads and no third-party SDKs: purchases go through Apple's App Store only, and optional family iCloud sync is Apple's. Apple's privacy label lists Name, Health and Fitness as Data Linked to You, used for App Functionality. - Hardware the app asks for, and nothing else: the camera (chore photo proof only), the device's motion sensors during a guided exercise, Face ID if a parent resets a forgotten parent code, and Apple Health step counts if a parent turns walking rewards on. - Location: none. No location entitlement, no location permission text and no Core Location code in the app. No live location, no location history, no geofencing, no find-my-child feature. - Camera: used for one thing, a photo as proof a chore was done. Off by default, set per chore by a parent (off, photo, note, or either). The child takes one picture in the app; there is no photo library picker, and the app's own wording is “Take one photo with the camera. It stays in MoveToPlay and is not saved to Photos.” The parent approves or rejects it; it travels only inside the family's own Apple iCloud sync. It is deleted automatically 14 days after a parent's decision, or 30 days after it was submitted if nobody ever reviews it (the next time the app runs after that). Privacy page wording: “A photo or short note submitted as proof a chore was completed, reviewed by a parent and deleted automatically (within 14 days of a decision, or 30 days if never reviewed).” A parent can also delete it immediately from the review screen. None of it reaches Duke & Duke: the photo stays on the family's own devices and, if iCloud sync is on, in the family's own private iCloud, which Apple does not give a developer access to. We run no server that receives chore photos, and the app does not analyse them at all. No video recording, and no camera-based rep counting or exercise recognition — an exercise is marked done by tapping. - Microphone: not used. No microphone permission text in the app and no audio recording. - Messages, browsing and other apps: the app cannot see them. The optional app lock works through Apple's Family Controls. A parent picks apps, categories and websites in Apple's own picker, and the app receives only Apple's opaque tokens, so it never sees the app names. Parent screens show only how many items are selected. The lock is a timer, not a usage monitor: it blocks the chosen apps and puts the block back when a play session's time is up, and it never reports what was used, for how long, or by whom. No background app-usage monitoring and no inventory of installed apps. - Motion: the app's own permission text is “MoveToPlay briefly uses motion sensors during a guided exercise so a parent can see whether the device was moving. This never changes the minutes a child earns.” - Apple Health: read-only, step count only, only if a parent turns walking rewards on. The app writes nothing to Health. - Ads and trackers: none. Privacy page: “The app does not contain ads or third-party ad networks.” No advertising or analytics SDKs. The app's privacy manifests set tracking to false and do not name any tracking domains, so it never asks for Apple's tracking permission. The App Store privacy label is separate: it lists Name, Health and Fitness as Data Linked to You, used for App Functionality. There are no third-party SDKs: purchases go through Apple's App Store only, and optional family iCloud sync is Apple's. - Deleting data: there is no account on Duke & Duke's side to close. Deleting the app from a device removes the family data it kept there; the parent code is held in the device keychain, which iOS keeps across an uninstall, and is erased and replaced through “Forgot the code?” on the app's parent screen. If iCloud sync was on, the synced copy lives in the app's own iCloud container and can be removed from the Apple Account's iCloud storage settings on the device. Chore photos and notes delete themselves on the 14-day / 30-day timers above, the next time the app runs after that, and a parent can delete a chore photo immediately. In a family with more than one child, a parent can also remove a child from the Parent dashboard. Privacy page: “Parents may contact us to ask questions or request assistance with family data.” - Name clash: MoveToPlay by Duke & Duke is an Apple-only app and is not connected with the Android app at movetoplay.app. - [MoveToPlay](https://dukeandduke.uk/move-to-play/): features, devices, pricing, and short privacy and safety answers at [MoveToPlay privacy and safety](https://dukeandduke.uk/move-to-play/#privacy-safety). - [How MoveToPlay works](https://dukeandduke.uk/move-to-play/how-it-works/): step-by-step guide and the questions parents ask (Android, Mac, account, cost and trial, banked minutes, streaks, Screen Time, multiple children), plus a [Privacy and safety](https://dukeandduke.uk/move-to-play/how-it-works/#privacy-safety) section covering what data is collected, location, camera and microphone, monitoring, ads and trackers, and deleting data. - [MoveToPlay press kit](https://dukeandduke.uk/move-to-play/press/): summary, key facts, links, press images (screenshots, app icon, logo) and the press contact. - [Privacy](https://dukeandduke.uk/privacy/): full privacy wording for the website and MoveToPlay. ## MoveToPlay guides for parents Practical guides that start with what parents can do for free (Apple's built-in tools, or paper) and end with an honest note on where MoveToPlay fits. It needs macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, Apple Silicon or Intel, with Messages set up on that Mac. It is Mac only. Key facts: - Download: https://github.com/DukeandDukeUK/weft/releases/latest. Source: https://github.com/DukeandDukeUK/weft. - No account, no server, no analytics, no tracking. Weft never asks for an API key. - Sorting is done by an AI you already have: Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google) or Grok (xAI) through each company's command-line tool signed in with your normal account, or Ollama or LM Studio running on your Mac with nothing to pay for. With Ollama or LM Studio, message processing stays on your Mac. - Weft sends the text of the conversations you added (and who sent each message) to the AI you chose, and nothing else. Contact names, if you allow Contacts access, are part of that text. Weft asks before a conversation is sent to an AI for the first time. - Weft reads your Messages history only on your Mac and never changes it. It needs Full Disk Access because Messages stores its history in a protected folder. - [Weft](https://dukeandduke.uk/weft/): features, requirements, getting started, privacy and questions. ## SongShrink SongShrink (SongShrink: Fit Music to Time and Tempo) fits a song you own to a time limit and tempo for dressage freestyle, gymnastics floor, figure skating, dance and cheer routines, exactly when the music is long enough; shorter music stays short unless a section is repeated. For dressage freestyle it matches the music to the horse's walk, trot and canter. It finds the beats, bars, phrases and sections of the song on the device and suggests edits whose cuts prefer a nearby bar line or beat between whole phrases, with joins crossfaded by default. Available on the App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/songshrink/id6823950357) for iPhone and iPad; the Mac version is coming soon on the same App Store page, and the Android version is coming soon to Google Play. Key facts: - Devices: iPhone and iPad (iOS 27 / iPadOS 27), Mac (macOS 27, coming soon) and Android (Android 10 or later, coming soon). - Cost: free to download and try. Exporting is a one-time in-app purchase; the App Store or Google Play shows the price in the buyer's currency. No subscription, no per-song fees. On Apple the unlock supports Family Sharing; Google Play doesn't share in-app purchases with a family group. - Time limits: built-in limits for ISU and U.S. Figure Skating, USA Gymnastics floor, and dressage freestyle (FEI Grand Prix Kür, British Dressage, USEF / USDF Training to Fourth Level), or any time you type. Length shown to the tenth of a second; when the music is longer than the target, "Land exactly on the target" trims and fades the end so the music is exactly the time; shorter music stays short unless a section is repeated. - Editing: up to four suggested edits, keep or drop sections, nudge cuts by a beat or a bar, reorder or repeat pieces, medleys from several songs with tempos matched, undo and redo. - Tempo: each part of the routine can have its own speed, set by tapping along with the steps (for example a horse's walk, trot and canter), typing steps a minute, or making a part last an exact time (M:SS). SongShrink speeds the part up or slows it down and warns when a change may start to sound odd. - Vocal removal: optional, for events that deduct for lyrics, song or speech (such as USA Gymnastics women's floor). The model is a separate download, made by ZFTurbo and released under the MIT licence: about 121 MB from Apple on iPhone, iPad and Mac, or one model of about 120 MB from Google Play on Android (Android needs at least 5 GB of memory for vocal removal). It runs on the device. Results vary from song to song and some singing can remain. - Export: MP3 (192, 256 or 320 kbps), M4A or WAV. MP3 export uses the LAME encoder; its source is offered on the LAME source page. - Songs that work: song files you own (MP3, iTunes Store purchases on Apple devices, files from a coach or a competition music service). Songs from streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify are copy-protected and can't be imported. - Privacy: no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Songs, projects and exports stay on the device and are never uploaded. The app collects no data. Purchases go through Apple's App Store or Google Play Billing. - [SongShrink](https://dukeandduke.uk/songshrink/): what it does (time and tempo), who it's for (including dressage freestyle), features, privacy, price and devices. - [SongShrink support](https://dukeandduke.uk/songshrink/support/): which songs work, getting songs in, vocal removal, restoring a purchase, how exact the length is, MP3 for competitions, Family Sharing. - [SongShrink privacy policy](https://dukeandduke.uk/songshrink/privacy/): the full privacy policy for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. - [SongShrink LAME source code](https://dukeandduke.uk/songshrink/source/): the LAME MP3 encoder source used in SongShrink, with build files, offered under the GNU LGPL. ## Support - [Support](https://dukeandduke.uk/support/): contact form, safety guidance for children exercising, device availability. - [Products](https://dukeandduke.uk/products/): all products on one page.
