SongShrink privacy policy
SongShrink is made by Duke & Duke. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the SongShrink app on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android. Last updated October 21, 2026: one sentence about the Android libraries was corrected; what the app collects did not change.
The short version
SongShrink does not collect, store or share any personal information. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app sends nothing about you or your songs to Duke & Duke. This is the same on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android.
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising code. On Android, the usage reporting built into ONNX Runtime, one of the libraries the app uses for music analysis, is switched off.
Android: to check and make the one-time purchase, the app uses Google’s Play Billing Library. That library sends diagnostic logs to Google each time the app opens, whether or not you buy anything: for example your device model, Android version, language and country, mobile network and connection type, a random identifier for that app session, and whether purchase checks succeeded. Duke & Duke never receives this data. Google’s privacy policy applies to it. SongShrink’s own code sends nothing.
Your songs and projects
Songs you import, the edits you make and the files you export are stored only on your device, in the app’s own storage. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else. All music analysis and vocal removal run on your device.
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: if you use iCloud Backup, or back up your Mac, your backup may include the app’s files. That backup is yours, and Apple’s privacy policy applies to iCloud.
- Android: your songs, projects and the vocal removal model are left out of Android’s cloud backup. Time limits you save yourself may be included in your device’s backup to your Google account, where Google’s privacy policy applies. If you move to a new phone with Android’s phone-to-phone transfer, your songs and projects may be copied to the new phone.
When you share or save an exported file, it goes where you send it. That is up to you.
Choosing a song from your music library
If you choose a song from your device’s music library, the app asks for permission first. It reads the library on your device only and copies just the song you pick into its own storage. Nothing about your library is sent anywhere.
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: the app asks for access to Media & Apple Music.
- Android: the app asks for permission to read music and audio files. On older versions of Android that permission also covers photos and other media, but SongShrink reads only music and audio.
Importing a song file you choose yourself needs no permission.
Downloading the vocal removal model
Vocal removal uses an optional model that you choose to download. The app tells you its size first and downloads nothing until you agree. The model then runs on your device, and no audio leaves it.
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: the model (about 121 MB) comes from Apple, in the same way as app downloads and updates. Apple’s privacy policy applies to that download.
- Android: the vocal removal model (about 120 MB) downloads only if you choose it. It comes from Google Play, in the same way as app downloads and updates. Google’s privacy policy applies to that download.
Nothing about you or your songs is sent to us.

- Google: policies.google.com/privacy
Searching the iTunes Store (iPhone, iPad and Mac)
If you use the search in the Get Music screen, the words you type are sent directly to Apple’s public iTunes Search service to find songs. We do not see or keep your searches. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
Links to other stores
The Get Music screen can link to other music stores. If you open one, you leave SongShrink and that store’s privacy policy applies. If you type a song or artist first, the store’s own search page opens in your web browser with those words, so that store sees them. SongShrink doesn’t send them to us.
Purchases
The one-time purchase that unlocks exporting is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive your name, account or payment details. The app only learns whether the unlock has been bought.
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: the purchase goes through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit), under Apple’s privacy policy.
- Android: the purchase goes through Google Play Billing, under Google’s privacy policy.
Children
SongShrink does not collect information from anyone, including children.
